Deposition of Thin Layer Electrodes Without Binder

Text Box:      Enerize has developed new technology and equipment for electrode material deposition based on gas detonation and high voltage glow discharge electron sources using a glow discharge electron gun current. During this deposition process powder particles gain a high kinetic energy and are deposited on a substrate forming a high quality coating.  Resulting electrodes require no binder and are distinguished by both outstanding electrode-to-substrate adhesion and cohesion.

As an example of the advantages of no-binder electrodes, carbon composite anodes for lithium-ion batteries fabricated by this method have demonstrated discharge capacity of up to 900 Ah/kg. By way of                                                          comparison, layers of the current competitive carbon-based anodes                                                          have discharge capacity of approximately 350 Ah/kg.
